
A BRIEF ABOUT
K.C. ABULLAH
MOULAVI
K.C. Abdullah Moulavi, a distinguished scholar, leader of Jama’at-e-Islami Hind, social reformer, writer, educationist and orator, was born on 22 February 1920 at Kodiyathur in Kozhikode district.
BACKGROUND
After completing both mainstream and madrasa education he pursued his studies in religious affairs and
graduated with an M.F.B degree from Baaqiyathu Swalihaat, Vellore, in 1943.
A disciple of MA Abdul Azeez Moulavi, EK Aboobacker Moulavi and MCC Hasan Moulavi. He began his career as a lecturer at Darul Ul Uloom, Vazhakkad, upon the request of MCC Hasan Moulavi. He later secured a BA Afzal Ul Ulama degree from Madras University and served as a lecturer at Aliya Arabic College, Kasargod.

During his tenure at Darul Ul Uloom, Vazhakkad, KC appeared on platforms of the Muslim League and worked with Jamiat Ul Ulama leadership. He joined Jama’at-e-Islami on 15 January 1948 and led the Kerala Chapter from 1959 to 1990, serving as Ameer for 22 years. He played a crucial role in significant decisions at both state and national levels and faced imprisonment when Jama’at-e-Islami was banned, with the bans later dismissed by the Supreme Court of India.
PROFOUND EDUCATIONIST
As an educationist, KC initiated fundamental changes in the educational system, establishing Al Madrasathul Islamiya in his hometown, Chennamangallur, to promote Arabic and Islamic education. He was instrumental in founding Madrasathul Banaat, the first school for Muslim women with boarding facilities in Kerala and introduced the Arts and Islamic Course (AIC) in 1971.
KC co-founded Prabhodhanam magazine and contributed to the growth of children's and women's publications. He played a significant role in establishing Madhyamam daily newspaper and promotedscientific thought through Sastra Vicharam magazine. Despite his commitments, he remained dedicated to studies, writing and teaching until his passing on 13 August 1995.
